Apache Junction, AZ
Overview of Apache Junction
Located in the heart of Southwestern culture, the city of Apache Junction, Ariz., may look like the backdrop for an old Wild West movie, but the community's drive is anything but antiquated. Conveniently tucked between the bustling Phoenix metropolitan area and the scenic splendor of Tonto National Forest, residents who live in Apache Junction apartments for rent can feel like a city slicker and a cowboy all in one setting. Although the city may be growing, the community here still holds true to its small-town roots. According to 2011 estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau, the area boasts more than 36,500 residents. This true oasis in the desert is one of the most sought-after cities in Arizona as well, with a 2.1 increase in population from in just one year from 2010 to 2011, according to census estimates.
Living in Apache Junction, AZ
Nestled in the foothills of Superstition Mountain - a place that has mystified different cultures for centuries - Apache Junction is rooted in the Wild West with a storied and colorful history. The area was first settled by Spanish conquistadors, and then Apache Native Americans. However, the community of Apache Junction wasn't truly formed until the western frontier was expanded and brave pioneers came into the area in search of the "Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine" located near Apache Junction. As the city grew throughout the 20th century, the town was eventually named Apache Junction after the Native American trail that once meandered through the town. Today, the open spaces and beauty of nature here make this community very attractive for Arizona residents who want all of the amenities of Phoenix close by but still wants to maintain a desert lifestyle.
