Overview of Ahwatukee

Adopted from the Crow Indian language, the word "Ahwatukee" translates to "house of my dreams," which is exactly what you’ll find if you choose to rent an apartment in this area. Known for its variety of outdoor activities, strong sense of community, and serene desert location, Ahwatukee is fantastic place for those looking to establish roots in Phoenix. The Ahwatukee village is the southernmost of the city’s urban villages, and is somewhat isolated from its neighbors by South Mountain which borders the village to the north. Because of this, there are relatively few access points to Ahwatukee, mainly through a few bridges across I-10 (some even refer to it as “The world’s largest cul-de-sac”). But don’t let that suggest that it’s far away from everything! Approximately 10 minutes driving will get you to Mill Avenue District in Tempe, and it’s a 15 minute drive to Old Town Scottsdale; both of which have loads of bars, restaurants, and shopping.
