Overview of Maryvale

Maryvale Phoenix, Arizona is a neighborhood northwest of downtown Phoenix. Situated south of Glendale, it provides easy access to towns such as Peoria, Avondale, and Phoenix's nearby urban villages, such as Estrella and Encanto. Historically, the neighborhood has remained less developed than other parts of the city. This has resulted in a lower cost of living, including rent, dining, entertainment, and other amenities.

Maryvale Apartment Info

In Maryvale Phoenix you can find apartments for less than $400 at the low end. Factors that influence the rent can include location, the number of bedrooms, the number of bathrooms, and other amenities. Higher end units in nicer facilities, with several bedrooms and bathrooms, can rent for $1,200 or more.

Amenities vary from building to building, but many apartment complexes in Maryvale and Phoenix include swimming pools, gated access, outdoor activity areas, and parking lots. Certain locations have private balconies, fitness centers, playgrounds, and extra storage.

Maryvale Dining & Entertainment

Sports fans will feel at home in Phoenix. For more than fifty years, baseball fans have been converging on the city to watch Spring Training. Maryvale Baseball Park is probably the neighborhood's biggest claim to fame, with 7,000 seats, a shaded concourse, and plenty of parking.

Maryvale Phoenix's west end offer a selection of bars, restaurants, and parks. While Maryvale is not the center of nightlife, the area has plenty to choose from. Busier hubs such as Glendale and downtown Phoenix are only a short drive away.

Nature lovers will be able to hop on the freeway to one of Phoenix's many large parks, such as South Mountain Park or Estrella Mountain Regional Park. Hiking, biking, and cooking out are common activities at these popular destinations.

Pet Friendly Maryvale Resources

Finding apartments in Maryvale Phoenix that allow pets is not difficult. This pet-friendly city has perhaps two dozen off-leash dog parks. There are countless more parks, both inside and outside the city, that permit pets on leashes. Maryvale has its own pet clinic and pet stores, and groomers can be found in north Phoenix and Scottsdale.

Phoenix also offers a number of dog shows, cat shows, meetup groups, and other opportunities for pet lovers to connect with each other and their animals.

Commuting Around Maryvale

Though Phoenix has over four million people, it ranks low in terms of traffic congestion. The entire city is networked by multi-lane roads and highways, so anyone with a car will be able to access other parts of the city quickly. The shortest commutes from Maryvale Phoenix will be to nearby neighborhoods such as Downtown, Encanto, South Mountain, and Glendale. Even commutes to more distant areas, such as North Scottsdale or Apache Junction, can take less than an hour.

Phoenix has buses, but they take considerably longer than driving, and waiting at the bus stop in the summer heat can be unpleasant. A light rail station close to Maryvale connects North Phoenix to Tempe and Mesa, so anyone commuting to those parts of town can save gas money and avoid traffic.

Maryvale Schools

There are at least a couple dozen elementary schools and more than six high schools in the Maryvale area. The elementary schools are served by the Cartwright Elementary District and high schools are served by the Phoenix Union High School District.

Phoenix has many community colleges and several universities. Maricopa Community Colleges runs ten colleges in the area, which are scattered throughout the city, in locations such as Glendale, Phoenix, South Mountain, and Estrella Mountain. The most prominent university is Arizona State University in Tempe, with more than 50,000 students.
