Best Dallas Neighborhoods for Newlyweds

Once you and your new spouse tie the knot, it’s time to move into the home in which you both will start your new lives together. It’s an important step to take, and a multitude of factors must be considered. If you read our 2013 list of the Best Cities for Newlyweds, you know that Dallas, Texas made the list–but not all Dallas neighborhoods are created equal–some are better for newlyweds than others.

Uptown

The Uptown neighborhood is located just north of downtown Dallas and west of North Central Expressway. If you’re looking for an urban lifestyle, this is the Dallas neighborhood to be in. Uptown is one of this city’s most walkable neighborhoods and has plenty of shops, bars, cafes and boutiques located only minutes away from most residential areas. On McKinney Avenue, you may find your new favorite restaurant,as there are plenty of patio bars and eateries to check out. On the weekends, you can head to the Katy Trail with your better half where you can go for a jog, bike or just admire the scenery.

Preston Hollow

Preston Hollow is located in North Dallas and offers quick access to LBJ/I-635 and the Dallas North Tollway, making it easy to escape if you need to visit the in-laws for the holidays. If you plan on starting a family in the near future, this neighborhood is home to Dallas’ most elite private schools and is where most of the neighborhood’s residents opt to send their kids. Some of the most popular include Ursuline Academy of Dallas, Hockaday School and Episcopal School of Dallas. This area is also filled with plenty of shopping options, like the Preston Royal Shopping Center, where you can search for furniture and decor for your new space with your spouse.

Deep Ellum

Located east of downtown Dallas, this neighborhood offers plenty in the way of entertainment–perfect for meeting new friends. You can find avant-garde shops, fun nightclubs, art galleries, mouthwatering restaurants, and lots of trendy loft and urban apartment developments. One of the popular hotspots in this neighborhood is the Mokah Coffee Bar. Not only do they serve delicious coffee to keep you going throughout the day, they’re also bursting with energy and host concerts, exhibits and even yoga four mornings a week.

Lower Greenville Avenue

If you’re looking for a mix between exciting nightlife and quiet, cozy neighborhoods, look no further than Lower Greenville Avenue. You’ll always find a new bar, restaurant or entertainment venue to check out together, but at the end of the day, you can return to your Dallas apartment and enjoy a quiet night in with your other half.

M Streets

This Dallas neighborhood is filled with young families and couples who wish to be close to downtown Dallas as well as near White Rock Lake. Many shops, patio bars and restaurants are within easy walking distance. M Streets is the 6th most walkable neighborhood in Dallas and has 31,860 residents. It’s also conveniently located nearby other areas, including Bluffview, Near East, Oak Lawn and Main Street District.
