Philadelphia offers much in the way of history, arts and culture, as well as the city’s iconic cheesesteak. And when it comes to an active nightlife, Philadelphia can’t be beat. Each Philadelphia neighborhood has its own arrangement of buzzed-about restaurants, craft beer-centric bars, intimate music venues and annual festivals. If you’re searching for a Philadelphia apartment and have nightlife in mind as a top priority, check out any of these Philadelphia neighborhoods that are known for their animated social scenes:

Callowhill

This Philly neighborhood is recognized for having some of the city’s best live music venues, as well as a steadily growing restaurant industry. It’s home to expansive studio and gallery spaces, trendy urban buildings and cobblestone streets, making this location a cultural gem that attracts visitors and residents alike.

Union Transfer is one of the city’s newest major concert halls and boasts excellent sound and light quality. While you’re there, enjoy one of their microbrews at any of the three full bars in the building. Shows for crowds of all ages frequent this venue, with everything from indie to punk bands taking the stage.

If you’re looking for a bar, stop by The Institute for a beer or two. It has a 16-tap draft list and offers a wide ranging selection to please any beer drinker’s palate. Make sure to visit Bufad Pizza for a bite to eat with friends. It’s a BYOB location specializing in Neapolitan and roman pizzas. Try the rapini, with spicy Italian fennel sausage, slow cooked tomato sauce, rapini and mozzarella for an Italian dish that will blow your taste buds away.

Northern Liberties

This former manufacturing district started turning heads in the early 90s with a progressive and artist-heavy flock and is still an up-and-coming Philadelphia neighborhood. Here you will find a quirky network of top-notch bars and even better restaurants. Northern Liberties is known for its authentic and international dining experience.

Second Street is the place to be, as it is the commercial heart of the neighborhood. It has some of the area’s most enduringly popular hangouts and plays host to a wide array of events, like the annual 2nd Street Festival and the Night Market, the Food Trust’s mobile food showcase.

If you’re on the search for a good bar, look no further than the 700 Club, which is a local bar by day and dance club at night. It has all the essentials for a fun night out with friends: good music, good beer and good times. The craft beer fanatics should head to Barcade, where they will find a sizable craft beer list alongside more than 40 25-cent arcade games.

East Passyunk

Some of the best Philadelphia nightlife can be found in East Passyunk. It’s home to some of the city’s hottest and most up-and-coming restaurants and bars. This Philadelphia neighborhood has even earned a spot on the 10 Best Foodie Streets in America in Food & Wine magazine. In East Passyunk, you’ll find everything from eclectic boutiques and coffee shops to vintage clothing stores and excellent sushi, Mexican and Italian fare. But you can’t be a true Philadelphia resident without enjoying the city’s delectable cheesesteak. Visit the area’s two rivals–Pat’s King of Steaks and Geno’s Steaks–to see for yourself which eatery takes the cake.
