Celebrity Spotting in Los Angeles
Whether you’re a tourist or a recent LA transplant, celebrity spotting in the City of Angels is exciting. Any long-time Los Angeles resident will tell you that “celebrities are just regular people,” but there’s still something magical about seeing your favorite star in the flesh. While you may not be able to afford a Los Angeles apartment near the rich and famous, that doesn’t mean you can’t go on a few weekend adventures to see if you can find your favorite movie stars. If you want to know where to see celebrities, look no further:
Long a hangout of the rich and famous, the Chateau Marmont hotel and bungalows are the perfect place for celebrity spotting. It’s not uncommon to see the world’s biggest stars having a casual lunch or meeting magazine editors for interviews. Everyone from Lady Gaga to James Franco has been spotted here. Tucked high on a hill above Sunset Boulevard, this hotel is filled with stories and secrets.
If you have a hankering for a cupcake (and don’t we all, every now and then?), head to celeb-favorite Sprinkles Cupcakes–located just two blocks off Rodeo Drive. Not only do they make incredible sweet treats with flavors from red velvet to chai latte, this gourmet cupcake shop is also frequented by celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Jessica Alba.
Brentwood Country Mart
For luxury shopping somewhere other than Rodeo Drive, check out Brentwood Country Mart–a barn-esque retail village in the upscale Los Angeles neighborhood of Brentwood, frequented by celebrities like Anthony Bourdain, Harrison Ford and Reese Witherspoon. Brentwood Country Mart has some incredible shopping (check out Jenni Kayne and Sugar Paper) and dining options (you may spot Jennifer Garner at Cafe Luxxe).
Nobu Los Angeles
If you’re willing to splurge on a meal, Nobu Los Angeles is a great place for celebrity spotting. Stars like Eva Longoria, Magic Johnson and Bradley Cooper adore this restaurant on La Cienega Boulevard. While you could just hang out at the bar, you’ll likely only see other tourists. If you want to catch a glimpse of Kim Kardashian, you’ll have to be seated in the main dining room. Be sure to make reservations well in advance!
For a little exercise, go for a hike or a jog at Runyon Canyon, a 16-acre park located near the Hollywood strip. Celebs like Ryan Gosling, Justin Timberlake and Hayden Panettiere have been spotted here. Runyon Canyon also has a dog park, so feel free to bring your furry friend along and try to create your own personal rom-com. You can even participate in free daily yoga classes as you gaze across the Los Angeles skyline.
If Extra is one or you guilty pleasures (come on, how can you resist the man formerly known as A.C. Slater?), you’ll definitely want to stop by The Grove. Not only does Extra broadcast from the outdoor shopping mall, but it’s also a great place to spot celebs like Courtney Cox. After you catch a glimpse of your favorite stars in real life, watch them on the big screen at Pacific Theatres.
