There are tons of things you can do and places you can go for a first date in Cleveland. Just use your imagination to plan a fun, exciting and memorable day for you and your new potential romantic partner. Here are some tips on where to go:
Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad Trip
It’s always a great idea to explore nature with someone special, so why not do it on a first date? Take your date on an adventure through Cuyahoga Valley National Park. There is a train ride that chugs along the river by the Ohio and Erie Canal. The three-hour journey will be plenty of time for you and your date to spark up a lively conversation as you admire the scenic views.
You can also jump on a bike with your date and head out to the Summit County trail. First pack a backpack with a picnic lunch for two (and a blanket, of course). Then traverse the 33.5-mile joy ride with your date. You’ll be able to view the birds and enjoy nature along this paved road that was once railroad tracks.
Lorain Port Authority
The Lorain Port Authority isn’t far from your Cleveland apartment, and it hosts a variety of fun events perfect for a first date. It has a musical show called the Labatt Black River Concert Series each summer. Additionally, in the warm weather you can take part in the local wine and beer tasting event, while venturing off on a trip to the Lake Erie Islands. There are also river and lighthouse tours, which take place in the summer.
There’s nothing wrong with having an old-school bowling date. It will help you and your date get to know each other while chatting over this fun game. Head to the Roseland Lanes in Oakwood for a friendly head-to-head match.
If your date is an animal lover, he or she will appreciate a day at the zoo. The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo has the largest collection of primates in the United States. It is also known for its rainforest exhibition, which boasts a simulated tropical rainstorm. Check out the camels, cranes, snakes, crocodiles and more.
Looking for a romantic locale for your date? Visit Cleveland Botanical Garden. The garden has the Guren Art Gallery and a glasshouse, which boasts two different climates. One is the rainforest of Costa Rica and the other is the spiny desert of Madagascar.
A visit to the Cleveland Museum of Natural History is a great way to start your date. It has tons of exhibits including “Be a Dinosaur” and the “Humans Origins Gallery.” You can even stop by the planetarium to view some of the cosmic shows. Even the Ross and Rachel relationship in “Friends” began in a museum.
Sometimes it is nice to take a scenic walk with your date. You might want to head to the University Circle neighborhood, which has nice trails and other attractions. Once you’re done with your walk, visit one of the multiple nearby restaurants.
