Oscar Party Ideas for a Fabulous Get-Together
It’s awards season everyone! You may not be able to walk the red carpet with your favorite Hollywood celebs, but you can get together with friends in your apartment and celebrate the glamorous night while watching the Oscars on TV. Consider inviting your buds over to see who wore it best, who looks like they got dressed in the dark, and which celebrity takes home an Oscar (maybe this is Leonardo DiCaprio’s year!). Check out these fun Oscar party ideas for your upcoming soiree:
Encourage Your Guests to Dress Up
Just because you’re not on the red carpet doesn’t mean that you can’t look just as glammed out as the A-list celebs you see on TV. Plus, who doesn’t love the chance to get dressed up every once in awhile? Take pictures upon everyone’s entrance. And if you would like, you can throw down an actual red carpet at the entryway of your apartment.
Glam Out Your Apartment
You don’t have to spend a fortune on decorations for your Academy Awards party. Look for ways that you can decorate with touches of metallics, such as gold. Head to the dollar store–they have much more than you would think. Look for inexpensive vases that you can spray paint gold and put a few blooms inside for your centerpiece.
Set up a few fun party games for you and your guests to play. You could make up some questions beforehand and have a game of film trivia. Ask questions like which actors are in which movie and which movies made the most at the box office. You could also have a ballot box where everyone puts in their vote for each category. There are always easy-to-print-out ballots online that cover every one of the categories. Check out MovieFone.com for free printables. The winner could get some type of prize, whether it’s a mini plastic Oscar statue or a $5 gift card to Target or Starbucks.
You may want to consider giving out your own awards at the party. Some categories could include “best dressed,” “wittiest comments,” “closest look alike to a celebrity,” or “most glamorous hairstyle.”
Every time one of your favorite celebrities wins an Oscar, you and your friends can raise a glass of champagne to their award. Again, the dollar store has superb plastic champagne glasses that you can throw away after the evening has come to an end.
Offer Finger Foods
When brainstorming Oscar party ideas, don’t leave out food. Curb everyone’s hunger with some tasty finger foods like barbecue sliders, bacon-wrapped dates, cheese truffles, fresh fruit, artichoke dip and pita chips, bruschetta and more. Make sure you get a head count for your party before you go to the grocery store to buy food for the event. You don’t want to come up short on appetizers, but you also don’t want to have more than you’ll need.
