If you’re new to a city and on a budget, you may feel like you’re living in an apartment the size of a closet. Not to burst your bubble–but celeb shoe closets are probably bigger than your entire living space. Still, we love to drool over the lifestyles of the rich and famous, don’t we? Here are our picks for the top five celebrity closets:
1. Tamara Mellon
As the founder of one of the world’s premiere designer shoe brands, Jimmy Choo, it’s no surprise that Tamara Mellon has a lavish shoe closet. Her shoe collection alone is rumored to amount to more than 800 pairs, but she’s lost count. They’re all arranged by color and type, and sit two deep on each shelf (although there are plenty more in storage). She also has an entirely separate closet for her jeans.
2. Mariah Carey
If bigger is better, Mariah Carey just might win the “best celebrity closet” contest. The Grammy-award winning artist has a 12,000-square-foot closet brimming with 1,000 pairs of shoes (although, like Tamara, most of them are in storage). The shoe closet in her Manhattan apartment is as beautiful as it is big, with a gold-leaf and bleached-wood floor designed by the diva herself.
3. Nicky Hilton
As an heiress and fashion designer, it’s no surprise that Nicky Hilton is in need of not one, but two walk-in closets bursting with couture. Nicky owns more than 200 handbags, and organizes her Los Angeles shoe closet by designer (must not mix the Manolos with the Louboutins!). Her sister, Paris, is rumored to have separate closets for shoes, jewelry and clothing.
4. Olivia Wilde
Actress Olivia Wilde combined a spare guest room and sitting room to create her enormous walk-in closet. The space is as beautiful as it is functional: The closet is cedar-lined, and is outfitted with a plush-rug, translucent panels and black-glass chandelier. But the true centerpiece of the room (aside from Olivia’s many red-carpet gowns) is a 19th-century mirrored vanity from the South of France.
5. Kim Kardashian
A well-known fashionista, entrepreneur and reality TV star, Kim Kardashian certainly has a closet to rival the best of them. Kim converted a guest bedroom to create her master closet (shoes and handbags have a separate walk-in). If you’re ever lucky enough to get a tour, you’ll find nearly 150 handbags and more than 300 pairs of shoes inside!
