Overview of Hollywood

Combining both business and residential aspects with the cultural heart of Los Angeles, Hollywood draws visitors and residents from all over the world thanks to its long history as the birthplace of moviemaking. Exclusive clubs, world-renowned restaurants, hip haunts and endless shopping all cater to the celebrity presence in this famous California city.

Apartments in Hollywood

Hollywood hit its stride during the golden age of cinema in the 1920s and '30s, and its architecture often reflects the Art Deco influence of this period with geometric lines and abstract motifs. Whether house hunters are searching for a modern apartment or historic gem, they're sure to find housing to suit their needs. Taking a cue from the greater Los Angeles area, most apartments offer characteristic Art Deco styling, pretty landscaping that incorporates palm trees and bougainvillea, and perks like swimming pools or workout facilities. The famous Hollywood and Sunset boulevards comprise the main arteries of the city; Hollywood is a very walkable area although many prefer driving or taking buses or taxis.

Tourist attractions abound in Hollywood, from the Hollywood Walk of Fame to TCL Chinese Theatre. In addition, the area between Vine Street and Highland Avenue, known as the Yucca Corridor, provides easy access to restaurants, shopping and attractions in the heart of the city. Los Feliz, slightly northeast of Hollywood, is another nearby community that provides ample walking area and excellent access to the subway system.

Apartments in Hollywood-Study

While there are no institutes of higher learning in Hollywood, the city does offer both private and public schooling with elementary, middle and high schools serving the area's younger population. Nearby Los Angeles has a University of California campus as well as California State University, Northridge. Private colleges include the Los Angeles College of Music and the Otis College of Art and Design.

Apartments in Hollywood-Work

While there are the expected service jobs that spring up to support the moviemaking industry, such as restaurant, hotel and catering positions, many jobs in the entertainment sector are also available, from film editing, to computer effects, to acting or screenwriting. Universal Studios employs thousands of workers while Capitol Records and Paramount Studios also employ their fair share of the workforce. Outside the filmmaking industry, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is also a major employer.
