Murrieta, CA
Overview of Murrieta
Only an hour from Mexico, Murrieta is one of the southernmost cities in California. Almost equidistant to San Diego and Los Angeles, the metropolis is perfect for commuters who want to visit either of these large areas. Home to roughly 104,108 residents, according to the 2010 Census, the Riverside County community is full of sunshine and culture, and was named to CNN Money's list of Best Places to Live in 2006.
The area has seen some of the most drastic population growth in the state, and the location and climate of the city is likely to account for this rapid expansion. Whether people are looking for an easy commute to some of the largest metropolitan areas of the country or simply a place to settle down and enjoy the sun, Murrieta apartments for rent will give individuals a chance to embark on a new California adventure.
Living in Murrieta, CA
The immediate area where the modern city is located had very humble beginnings, as one Spanish farmer decided, in 1873, to purchase a large plot of land to move his sheep from the central part of the state to the verdant open spaces of southern California. By 1890, thanks in part to the expansion of a railroad in the region, the town had expanded to a population of 800, and this number grew to accommodate a growing number of international visitors to the Murrieta Hot Springs Resort.
After a brief lull during the mid 1900s, the town began to recover slightly, but it was not until the extension of Interstate 15 that it returned to prominence in the state. Murrieta officially became a city in 1991, with a little more than 24,000 residents, and after rapid expansion occurred, by 2005, there were 85,000 inhabitants in the area.
The growth occurred quickly and people looking for Murrieta apartments saw the speed of the development boom in the area only outpaced by the demand for housing. Because of its location, scenic views, comparatively low crime rate and expanding market for business, new residents are coming to the city every day.
Murrieta Work and Study
The rapidly expanding nature of the city has led to the creation of a rather large school system, which employs a number of residents in the area, along with the local government. However, most of the residents make the commute to the two major metropolitan areas, with Los Angeles and San Diego accessible via the interstate highways that run through the area.
The city is located near a number of community colleges and small, specialized schools, as more than eight of these institutions for higher learning are in the immediate area of the city. Larger schools are located closer to Los Angeles and San Diego, but since these metropolitan areas are within driving distance of the city, Murrieta rentals are still close enough to serve an academically inclined individual.
Rentals in Murrieta, CA and Cost of Living
Since a majority of the housing that is in the area is relatively new, the residents are left with many choices that were recently built and in better shape than many areas of the country. Scenic views and open space are plentiful, and people finding Murrieta rentals may want to position themselves in the city near the interstate that leads to either Los Angeles or San Diego.
The median gross rent for Murrieta is $1,267 per month, according to the 2010 Census.
Murrieta Attractions and Special Events
Many of the city's residents will go to see a Los Angeles Lakers game at the Staples Center or head down to San Diego to visit the world famous zoo that is located in the city. However, there are a number of activities to do in Murrieta, including visiting one of the parks in the metropolis, taking a hike in the surrounding area or taking a class available through the local government.
