Redondo Beach, CA

Overview of Redondo Beach

Redondo Beach, Calif., is on the coastal edge of Los Angeles County and draws residents and visitors from all over to experience its breathtaking views and great weather. For years it was a preferred resort destination, and remains a desirable place to live year-round, with approximately 67,000 residents in the city. Search for Redondo Beach apartments for rent, and find a beach town with close proximity to all the amenities Los Angeles has to offer.

Living in Redondo Beach, CA

Redondo Beach has changed quite extensively over the course of its history, but one thing has held true: its resort atmosphere attracts a lot of people. The city's popularity began in 1890, when Hotel Redondo opened. The area became a destination for tourists who would come by way of the railroad or steamship. Redondo Beach also became a popular hub for oil and lumber freight. The city's population grew steadily, and increased dramatically in the 1950s.

While the area is still a resort town today, there's also a lot offered for year-round residents. The city has public libraries, a performing arts center, numerous parks and a large recreational and commercial harbor. Large employers include companies housed in an industrial complex, which is home to the Northrop Grumman Corporation Campus. Many residents also work at the Redondo Beach Pier or the Galleria at South Bay, a mall in the eastern part of the city. When people want to work or play in Los Angeles, they look no further than apartments for rent in Redondo Beach. The beach is 23 miles southwest of the city.

Redondo Beach Attractions and Special Events

Redondo Beach is most famous for its state beaches and the Redondo Pier, which is located just 10 minutes south of LAX. It offers oceanfront dining and entertainment, and unique souvenir shops like Shark Attack, which draws people in with its exotic currency, shells and shark teeth.  When people would rather get on the water, they can surf or go on whale watching tours off of the coast.
