Just 15 miles away from the downtown area, people who live in Sun Valley apartments for rent can enjoy all the amenities of small-town life with the perks of one of the country's largest cities nearby. According to information from  City-Data, the population in Sun Valley is more than 46,000, but with the high quality of life, excellent schools and close proximity to plenty of beach recreation, this stunning city is showing no signs of slowing down.

Living in Sun Valley, CA

Sun Valley got its start in the late 1800s when Senator Charles Maclay set aside 56,000 acres of land across the San Fernando Valley for the construction of the Southern Pacific Railroad. Once economic growth began to take hold because of the many goods and services that came into the area, a small community was formed. At first the city was named Roscoe, but eventually it was renamed Sun Valley. In 1905, there were only seven families living in the city, but during the 20th century when Los Angeles began to experience rapid sprawl and growth, the area soon became known for its residential and commercial expansion. Today, the community is committed to strong organization, local business, and families that are leading Sun Valley into the future.

Sun Valley Attractions and Special Events

One of the city's finest places for outdoor recreation is Sun Valley Park, located in the northern part of the city. Complete with a baseball diamond, basketball courts, a children's play area, jogging path and multi-purpose rooms for community events, there are plenty of ways to get to know your new neighbors in this lush green space.

The Sun Valley Chamber of Commerce hosts many events, including the annual Casino Night, several town mixers, a toy drive every Christmas and an annual golf tournament.
