As a district of the San Fernando Valley, Van Nuys is located within Los Angeles. The district was named after Isaac Van Nuys, the Dutch founder of the San Fernando Homestead Association in 1869. The first house in Van Nuys was built in 1872, and the district has since grown to into a thriving community featuring some of the biggest studios in the entertainment industry.
