Overview of Venice

Venice is a hip neighborhood located at the western edge of the city of Los Angeles, California. It was founded as a city in 1905, when it was already a well-known resort area. In 1926, however, it merged into the city of Los Angeles. It's an attractive beachfront community that is known for its beachfront promenade, which is full of street vendors, musicians, artists and performers of every description. People who are looking for an apartment to rent in a lively and artistic community will find this neighborhood quite hospitable.

Living in Venice

This large and diverse neighborhood, with a population of more than 40,000, has a great deal to offer both families and single professionals alike. Like the rest of Southern California, this is an area where most people drive as their primary mode of transportation. Los Angeles does, however, have an extensive bus system that connects Venice with the rest of the city. If you are driving, you are close to nearby communities such as Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and West Hollywood.

Venice is a town that appeals to those who love the beach and outdoor activities, from surfing to bodybuilding. If you rent a place to live in this area, you can find a great deal of stimulation simply by walking along the boardwalk, which is full of places to dine and shop. The area also houses many parks and recreational areas, such as the Venice Beach Recreational Center. This park offers a variety of activities, including basketball, tennis, volleyball and a children’s play area. For people who enjoy the arts, one of the most popular nearby attractions is the Getty Center, which has a large variety of exhibits and performances for people of all ages.

Apartments in Venice-Study

There are quite a few colleges and universities in the western part of Los Angeles. Santa Monica College, however, is only a short drive or bus ride away. This is a popular two-year college where many students attend prior to transferring to one of the area’s larger universities. The largest and best-known university in the area is University of California, Los Angeles, which is located in Westwood. This university offers 125 majors in 109 academic departments, so it has something to offer just about every kind of student. Another nearby institute of higher learning is California State University Long Beach, which has more than 35,000 students and is the second largest campus of the California State University system’s 23 schools. Students seeking off-campus housing can easily find apartments to rent in vibrant neighborhoods like Venice Beach.

Apartments in Venice-Work

Residents seeking employment can look in Venice itself or extend their search to the rest of Los Angeles County. The three major employers in this county are American Honda Motor Company, California State University and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The Westside of Los Angeles offers a wide variety of jobs in industries such as health care, education and entertainment.
