Edgewater, CO
Overview of Edgewater
Just minutes from downtown Denver and full of the quality of life that residents have enjoyed here for decades, the city of Edgewater, Colo., is one of the shining stars in the western states. Having earned the distinction of Tree City USA, people who live in Edgewater apartments for rent can expect to see plenty of beautiful natural surroundings. With its quaint and quiet neighborhoods, low crime rates and tree-lined streets, Edgewater is the perfect community for Colorado families. There is a variety of housing here, from new residential ventures to elegant and stately Victorian homes. However, no matter what budget or background, Edgewater is a warm and welcoming community.
Living in Edgewater, CO
Much of the history and settlement in Edgewater is closely tied to Sloan Lake. In fact, the name "Edgewater" alludes to the fact that the city limits are located along this lovely body of water. After Fort Logan was built in the Edgewater area in the 1800s, the city began to show plenty of development. However, it wasn't until the 20th century that the city saw the bulk of its residential and business growth. The city has grown in size and diversity, and many of the houses here are full of single-family homes. Although it's a small city at less than 1 square mile, it is densely populated for a place with a small-town atmosphere. According to the 2010 U.S. Census, Edgewater is home to more than 5,200 residents.
Edgewater Attractions and Special Events
The dividing line between Denver and Edgewater is also one of the area's most stunning attractions. Sloan Lake Park was once just an open patch of prairie. However, after farmer Thomas Sloan excavated a well, the growing lake became a fixture in the city. Today, the park offers a playground for the kids, spectacular Rocky Mountain views, boating and fishing for Edgewater residents.
