Named after William Loveland, president of the Colorado Central Railroad, Loveland was founded along the railroad crossing near the Big Thompson River. Agilent Technologies is one of the largest companies in the area, offering job opportunities to Loveland residents in the fields of advancing electronics, communications, life sciences and chemical analysis. Other top employers include the McKee Medical Center, Aims Community College, Woodward Governor Company and the Group Publishing Company. Fifty-nine percent of Loveland residents work in management, sales and office occupations in these industries.

Loveland is also home to a unique range of events that speak to the local culture. The Loveland Corn Roast Festival features attractions centered on corn.
