Overview of Northglenn

Dubbed a "Tree City USA" for 11 years, the idyllic town of Northglenn is a small, eco-conscious community in Colorado just 15 minutes north of downtown Denver. A great example of efficient city planning, the city is known for its connectivity to Denver by a Greenway Trail System, making transportation fast and easy for commuters. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Northglenn saw a growth of population in 2010 with 36,588 residents. If you want to live near everything a major metropolis has to offer, but still want to bask in the adventure of the Colorado wilderness, Northglenn apartments for rent will give you the best of both worlds.

Living in Northglenn, CO

Plans for a subdivision north of Denver began in spring 1959 by Perl-Mack Co., and by 1962, the new development had 3,000 homes and 10,000 new residents. Named "the most perfectly planned community" by Life Magazine, the city became known as Northglenn, and was incorporated in 1969.

The 1970s saw plenty of growth for the city when police and fire departments, a city council, schools, a community center and parks were all established. Once the Northglenn Mall opened in the 1980s, the city began to see a growth in local businesses and customers. Soon, many recreational facilities including 550 acres of parks and open space, swimming pools, ball fields and improved irrigation systems were built. Today, the residents of Northglenn continue to maintain pride in the community's appreciation for the environment and its ideal city planning.

Many students in the city get their education at nearby Metropolitan State University's Metro North Campus. Offering bachelor's and master's degrees in many different programs, many students can find a world-class education in town without the headaches of commuting to Denver. A private institution in the area is Colorado Christian University, whose education prepares Christian students for business and spirituality in an alternative classroom setting.

One of the largest employers in the Northglenn community is the O'Meara Ford dealership, Kindred Health and Adams 12 Five Star School District. In a community that is popular with families seeking apartments in Northglenn, it makes sense that the largest employer is the local school district.
