Amit Jain, President
Amit oversees day to day business operations for Rent.com. He outlines the overall strategy, corporate vision, and sets the company growth objectives.
Prior to Rent.com, Amit was a senior operating advisor at TPG Capital, a global private equity firm that oversees over $50 billion of capital. While there, he worked with various portfolio companies including Armstrong World Industries (a global manufacturer of flooring, ceilings, and cabinets) and Nexeo Solutions (a leading distributor of chemicals, plastics and composites). At Nexeo, Amit took an interim executive position as the VP of Transformation, directly reporting to the CEO and responsible for driving value creation programs across the company.
Amit also spent six years with McKinsey & Company from 2003-2009, where he was an Associate Principal in the Palo Alto, CA office. He served several Fortune 500 companies across industries managing engagements focused on operations transformation and business turnarounds across the United States, Europe and Asia.
He also serves on the board of ReSurge International, a non-profit organization. ReSurge provides free reconstructive surgeries for the underprivileged and builds year-round medical access in under-served areas in developing countries.
Amit holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Alain Avakian, Chief Technology Officer
Alain is responsible for the development and deployment of technology-based solutions which enable Rent.com to achieve business objectives and deliver on the company's vision. He leads his team with an open mind, an open door and a decisive nature that inspires confidence. Known for his ability to build and retain strong teams, he has a deep expertise in technical architecture and implementation.
A veteran of Rent.com, Alain joined in 2001 during the startup stages when the company was known as Viva. Hired as a principal architect, he was tasked with building a new search platform from the ground up. By assembling a team of architects and engineers, Alain was instrumental in bringing a new technical solution to market that allowed Rent.com to expand its business nationally.
The life of a startup is nothing new to Alain. Prior to Rent.com, he worked at Stamps.com as an architect and senior software engineer during its inception. He led the team responsible for the development and architecture of the company's web-based platform for delivering postage online. Alain was also successful at CitySearch, where he led his team through the development and delivery of a customer-centric search and mapping experience platform. CitySearch was later bought by TicketMaster Online for $260 million.
Along with his wife and two children, Alain lives in Southern California. His family enjoys traveling abroad and playing board games together. Always a team-builder, Alain is already teaching his kids programming.
Alain graduated with honors from California State University Northridge and holds two Bachelor of Science degrees; one in Computer Science and the other in Mathematics.
Amanda McConnell, Head of Product
Amanda's responsibilities include leading product strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle process. She brings over a dozen years of digital experience to Rent.com, is well versed in agile development, and leads her team with a strong belief that creative collaboration drives product innovation.
Prior to Rent.com, she served as Senior Director of User Experience and Product Management at ReachLocal, where she led multi-language launches in the European Union and Asian markets. Under her leadership, she devised a mobile strategy for the company and expanded the UxUi team to become a global resource for all products.
At BuzzMedia, Inc. and TagWorld, she led teams to develop publishing and social media platforms from the ground up. In addition, she has overseen major projects for Southern Poverty Law Center, California Pizza Kitchen, HealthNet and many others.
Amanda earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics, with an emphasis in Statistics from the University of California Los Angeles. A true Los Angeles native, her family roots reach back to 1917 and is a third generation UCLA alum, following in her mother and grandmother's footsteps.
A member of Women in Technology International (WITI), she demonstrates her commitment and leadership as a panel speaker each year at the WITI Summit.
