We asked our renters: if you could have anything in your search for an apartment, what would it be? And time and time again, getting rewards was not nearly as important as having options... lots of them. So that's what we're going to give you. We don't want you to just find a place to live, we want you to find an apartment you're excited to live in. Though Reward Cards may be gone, expect to see an increasing amount of listings on our site.
If all goes according to plan, we will no longer offer Reward Cards after May 31, 2015. Until then, we will be removing Reward Card eligibility from listings on a rolling basis, so a listing that offers a Reward Card today may no longer be Reward Card-eligible a week from now. To be eligible for a Reward Card, your new apartment must still be Reward Card-eligible on the day you sign your lease.
We cannot guarantee when a given property will no longer be Reward Card-eligible. Once you move into an eligible property, you will have 30 days from your move-in date to report your lease and receive a Reward Card. More information about changes in the Reward Card Program can be found in our Reward Card Policy.
Here are some answers to frequently asked questions about the Rent.com $100 Visa® Reward Card.
This information is displayed by Rent.com as a courtesy to the card issuer, The Bancorp Bank. The cardholder agreement is between you and The Bancorp Bank. If you have any questions about the card once you receive it, please direct them to The Bancorp Bank at the contact information listed below.
The Reward Card is a $100 Visa® debit card. Purchases on the card are deducted from the card's available balance. You can use the Reward Card anywhere that accepts Visa® debit cards. There is no need to apply for this card as you would a credit card.
A credit card provides you with a line of credit, which you have to pay back. With the Reward Card, there is no line of credit and no bill to pay. You simply use the Reward Card to make purchases until you reach the $100 limit or your card expires (whichever comes first).
Some properties featured on our site pay us a fee only when their Rent.com advertisement results in a lease. When a renter reports their lease at one of those properties to us, we know to contact that property to collect our advertising fee. So for those properties, we reward renters for telling us about their lease by offering a Reward Card!
Regulations require us to print the word "debit" on the front of your Reward Card. However, in order to complete successful transactions, you must select the payment option of "credit" (not "debit") at the point of purchase.
Yes. You can find the expiration date on the front of your Reward Card.
You can get started by 'contacting us'. But don't wait as the last day to report a lease is May 31, 2015.
Reward Card-eligible properties will have a symbol on the listing. If this symbol is present on the day you sign your lease and other Reward Card conditions are satisfied (e.g., listing "Rent.com" as your referral source, etc.), you will be entitled to receive a Reward Card so long as you follow the steps to report your lease. For more details, please read the complete Reward Card Policy.
Start by using Rent.com to find your new home! If you find a Reward Card-eligible property that features thesymbol, tell the leasing office that you found the property on "Rent.com" when you visit. Be sure to write down "Rent.com" as your referral source on the visitor's information card and/or rental application. After you sign your lease, report your lease on the Rent.com website. Please note that you will only receive a Reward Card after we have received confirmation from the property manager regarding your lease report.
If your new property is Reward Card-eligible on the day you sign your lease, you must submit your lease report form within 30 days after moving to the property. You can also submit your lease report form prior to move-in.
For more details, please read the complete Reward Card Policy.
Confirming your lease and processing the Reward Card usually takes 8-10 weeks from your move-in date or the day you report your lease, whichever is later. There are a couple steps we have to take in order to confirm your lease report. As a part of our Reward Card Policy, you must sign a new lease, move into the rental property, and reside there for more than 30 days. Once you report your lease to us, we contact the property manager (on your move-in date or the day you report your lease to us, whichever is later) to confirm that Rent.com was your referral source. Then 31 days later, we confirm that you have moved in and still reside at your new home.
Once we receive ALL the necessary paperwork from your property manager confirming your lease report, we issue your Reward Card.
Visit your Account Profile page to change your Reward Card address or you may call us at 1.866.432.RENT (7368).
From the time of receiving the email, please allow 7-10 business days to receive the card. If it has been more than 14 business days since the date that you received the email from us, please contact us. Rent.com will reissue a second card if the first is lost in the mail or returned to us.
Following our confirmation of your lease report, we will send the activation code to you via email. You'll need your activation code to activate your Reward Card, inquire about your card balance and previous transactions, request a replacement card, etc. If you've forgotten your activation code, you can have it emailed to you or view it on your Reward Status page.
Your Reward Card must be activated before use. To activate your Reward Card, please call 1.866.255.9754. When prompted, enter your Reward Card number and your 4-digit activation code. You should have received an email from Rent.com indicating your activation code. If you would like your code re-sent, please click here to have it emailed to you.
You can use your Reward Card to purchase goods and services at any merchant that accepts Visa debit cards.
No. You can use the Reward Card as many times as you wish until you reach the $100 limit or your card expires (whichever comes first). For instance, if you use the card to make a $25 purchase, your Reward Card will still have an available balance of $75.
No, you cannot use this card to withdraw cash from an ATM.
Yes. However, you will have to go inside to the register to pay with your Reward Card. Unfortunately, the Reward Card cannot be used to "pay at the pump."
Yes. However, you should be aware that it is common practice for the credit processors at restaurants to temporarily authorize an amount on your card that totals up to 20% more than the bill you receive (in order to reserve an amount that includes an anticipated gratuity) until your final signed receipt can be processed. For example, you may have a restaurant bill for $25. When they swipe your card, $30 will be temporarily authorized until your signed receipt for $28.75 is processed. It can take up to a week for the temporary authorization to be adjusted to reflect your final receipt. Please be sure to account for this practice before using your Reward Card at a restaurant.
Yes. When you "check out" at an online merchant, select "Visa" as your credit card type and then provide your Reward Card number and the expiration date. If the merchant asks for your billing address, enter the address where your card was originally sent (however, if you have contacted customer service to change your address, use your updated address). If the merchant asks for a 3-digit security code, you can find it on the back of your card—it is the last three digits printed in the signature panel.
At certain merchant locations (such as grocery stores), the merchant may require that you swipe your Reward Card yourself. At these locations, make sure you choose "credit" as the payment option. Though your Reward Card says "debit" on it, you must choose the "credit" option for your transaction to be accepted.
No, these cards cannot be reloaded with money.
In some cases, your transaction will be declined. Some large retailers support split tender at the point of sale, which will deduct the amount left on the card and allow you to use another form of payment to pay for the balance. You can always check your available balance online or by phone. This information is displayed on the back of your Reward Card.
There is information on the back of your card to retrieve the balance of your Reward Card at any time. You may also visit Reward Card Balance link to view your balance.
If you lost your card, you may receive a replacement. If you did not activate your card before losing it, please contact us directly. If you activated your card, please contact the number on back of the card to have another card reissued. Please be advised that fees will apply to lost cards that have been activated.
This card is issued by The Bancorp Bank pursuant to a license from Visa U.S.A.
