Cape Coral, FL
Overview of Cape Coral
Located on the sugar white sands of the Gulf of Mexico's coast conveniently near Tampa and Fort Myers, FL, the community of Cape Coral is one of the state's finest places to live. With plenty of sunshine, excellent schools, outstanding recreational opportunities and a very low cost of living, it is no surprise that many Gulf residents are calling Cape Coral apartments for rent their new home. According to information from the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has seen an expansion in growth with more than 154,000 residents, based on 2010 data.
Living in Cape Coral, FL
Although Florida had been occupied by Seminole Native Americans for thousands of years, the areas around Cape Coral were largely uninhabited until around 40 years ago, when two land speculators believed that the coastal areas outside Fort Myers would make for an ideal waterfront community. In 1970, the city incorporated and began to grow into the third largest geographical area in the Sunshine State. Today, this area is growing in reputation and population, bringing in both residents and businesses due to its low crime and pro-business atmosphere.
Cape Coral Attractions and Special Events
One of the events that makes the community proud is the Cape Coral Festival of the Arts. This yearly event features jewelry, mixed media, crafts, photography and sculpture from artists from across the state. The Coconut Festival held every fall is another popular community event that showcases the many beachfront amenities in the city. With carnival games, live musical entertainment, fireworks and plenty of coconut cocktails, this event has plenty of fun for the whole family.
Many people all over western Florida come to Cape Coral to visit Sunsplash Family Waterpark. Since Florida enjoys tropical weather year-round, residents can relax in the lazy river, or enjoy many exciting slides and 14 acres of aquatic entertainment from March to September.
