U.S. soldiers forged a trail down to Miami in the final phase of the Indian inhabitation of Florida in 1856. The land was used primarily for agriculture for decades until the Florida land boom reached the area and the development had negative effects on soil quality. Industry and construction began to flourish, but the farming sector was no longer profitable.
After World War II, military veterans and their young families flocked to North Miami, marking the area’s biggest growth period. North Miami was one of the fastest growing towns in the United States in the early 1950s, ushering in new businesses, schools and opportunities for local residents to enjoy. Today the area is booming with a very diverse community, as people from all backgrounds look for North Miami apartments to live the American dream.
