Overview of Acworth

Located along Interstate 75, Acworth, Ga., has been given the nickname "Lake City" due to its close proximity to two area lakes. Thirty-three miles northwest of Atlanta, Acworth has a population of approximately 20,700, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The city's crime index of 129 compared to the United States' 319 makes Acworth apartments for rent a safe bet and a nice complement to the city's median household income that is higher than the state of Georgia.

Acworth was officially incorporated in December 1860. The city gained notoriety during the Civil War when army general, William Sherman, stationed himself in Acworth for a number of days. The city was eventually torched in 1864 when many homes and buildings were burned during the Civil War. Because of Acworth's close proximity to Marietta and Atlanta, many residents are near top employers like Pardot, Capitol Media Solutions and VDart.
