Approximately 3-4 miles from downtown Atlanta is a neighborhood called Home Park. Originally it was known as Chastaintown, named for Avery Chastaintown, who owned a large estate on the corner of Hemphill Avenue and Emmet (Tenth) Street. In the early 20th century, Atlantic Steel Company was established and its growth was instrumental in the development of this neighborhood. Around 1998, Atlantic Steel Company was torn down and replaced with Atlantic Station, an assorted collection of more than 50 shops, located a mere 4 miles from Home Park. Today, this neighborhood caters to young people who want to rent or own a home at relatively low cost. The convenience of short commutes walkable neighborhoods has generated renewed interest in settling in Home Park.
