Living in Roswell, GA
Known as the "Enchanted Land" by Cherokee Indians, Roswell's ideal location on the Chattahoochee River has accounted for much of the city's growth over the past 200-plus years. The first settlement popped up in 1830 when Roswell King built a cotton mill in the area and formed the highly successful Roswell Manufacturing Company. After a wealthy community of plantation owners began to blanket the area, a city charter was formed and Roswell was officially named after Mr. King.
The Civil War had a deep impact on the slaveholding community after Georgia seceded from the Union in 1861. Many families fled to safer cities after the Union army destroyed the cotton mill, the main source of economy in the Roswell area. After the infestation of the boll weevil in the 1910s and 1920s and the Great Depression of the 1930s, much of the community was forced to rebuild. Once the state's Highway 400 was built connecting Atlanta to Roswell, the town began to develop into one of the city's most prized and well-developed residential areas.
Roswell Work and Study
Many companies' headquarters including Northridge Systems, Ronald Blue & Co., Crossfit North Fulton, Plastic Solutions Inc., and Amerimex Communications have made Roswell home, according to the city's website. Office development and technology firms continue to develop in the area due to the excellent schools and high quality of life that the community offers. If you are either commuting to downtown Atlanta or working at one of these companies, finding rentals in Roswell is a great idea for you and your family.
