Lakeview apartments transport you to classic Chicago. This neighborhood dates back to 1837, when its first white settlers arrived. Much has changed since those early European immigrants farmed alongside plank roads. Now, from the quieter homes in Lakeview East to downright boisterous Wrigleyville, this area packs in iconic metropolitan grooves. West Lakeview and Northalsted are also both part of this grand neighborhood. This is also where you’ll find Boystown, the first official gay village in the United States.

Dense on the ground, Lakeview has an old school city feel to it. Don’t expect the neighborhood to be ultra-urban, however. Residents say it’s safe and wonderfully diverse. Lakeview is a frequent destination for Chicagoans. You’ll come here for the Pride Parade, to cheer on the Cubs, and to enjoy everything else that Lakeview has on offer.

Lakeview Lifestyle and Entertainment

Lakeview has something for everyone. Come check out its boutiques, shopping centers, great restaurants, and happening nightlife. This part of the city is well known for its outdoor events. Both the Chicago Marathon and the Chicago Gay Pride Parade brighten Lakeview. For less crowded outdoor entertainments, check out the walking paths or dog beach around Belmont Harbor.

Lakeview Info and the Rental Market

Because Lakeview covers so much ground, you’ll find an excellent range of rentals and residents here. Upscale condos, mid-rise apartments, low-rise brick buildings, lofts, and single-family homes are all available. The average rent in Lakeview spans from $1,400 to $2,000 a month depending on which part of the neighborhood you’re looking at.

There’s good and bad news when it comes to commuting from Lakeview. The good news is that the Chicago Transit Authority runs Red Line, Purple Line, and Brown Line ‘L’ trains through stations here. Additionally, express buses follow Lake Shore Drive into the Loop. The bad news is that parking can be expensive and scarce when the Cubs step up to the plate.
