Discovering the past of Naperville is easy in the town’s historical village, Naper Settlement. Designed in 1969 by the now-named Naperville Heritage Society, it was originally an effort to save the St. John’s Episcopal Church, which had suffered damage since it was built in 1864. The church was later moved to a city-owned area, now a part of the Naper Settlement. Many homes in Naperville are historic, just taking a walk down the street is a blast from the past.

Naperville rentals near downtown are close to all the action. Small-town charm, world class schools and chic attractions are all easily accessible along Washington Street. Just south of the Naperville Historic district, downtown Naperville has walkable destinations at every corner. Residents can jump aboard the train for a 30 minute commute to Chicago, walk down tree-lined streets to the DuPage County Children’s Museum or spend the afternoon shopping at the area’s many shops.

Home of the Cardinals, North Central College is a small, private institution located just on the outskirts of downtown Naperville and many apartments are occupied by students in their junior and senior year at the college. Located just steps away from downtown Naperville, many residents find themselves at a football game at the college’s stadium during the fall months.

Major private employers in Naperville include Lucent Technologies, Kraft Foods, Nicor Gas and Solar Communications. Because of its close proximity to Chicago, O’Hare International Airport and Midway Airport, business owners and employees enjoy easy access to these transportation systems.
