Newton, Iowa, is in the central region of the state, 34 miles east of Des Moines. With a population of approximately 15,000, Newton offers the best of small town living and convenience, as the city is bisected by Interstate 80 and State Highway 14. Newton was established in 1846 and was incorporated in 1856. When it was first established, it was made the seat of Jasper County. Soon after it was founded, the Newton Library Association was organized and an independent school district was established in 1863. Newton has been home to many companies, such as cigar factories, medicine manufacturers, and was known at the "Washing Machine Capital of the World" when it was home to a major Maytag plant.

Today, Newton's major employees include Newton Community School District, TPI Composites, Skiff Medical Center and Iowa Telecom. The city is also a great place to raise a family, as the local school district is very well-run and its Parks and Recreation Department oversees 250 acres of land and several facilities such as a pool and golf course.

The city is also famous for the Iowa Speedway and several motorsport-related attractions. The Maytag Dairy Farm offers acclaimed cheese that's been made from fresh Iowa milk since 1941.
