Overview of Bossier City

With the natural beauty of the Red River and a unique variety of amenities for the whole family, many Louisiana residents are finding great cause to call Bossier City home. Located adjacent to its sister city, Shreveport, on the eastern bank of the river, the ideal location and tight-knit community of this small city are the main reasons why so many people are seeking Bossier City apartments for rent. After a recent spike in population, the 2011 estimated population in the area was more than 62,700, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Living in Bossier City, LA

Bossier City got its start in the 1830s, when it was the Elysian Groves plantation home of the Cane family, known as "Cane's Landing." After the Civil War, many travelers ventured through the area during the western expansion and some stayed, increasing the population throughout the 1800s. It wasn't until the Pacific Railroad came into the area that Bossier City truly got its spark, giving it an industrial boom in agriculture and oil production. After World War II, the city became known as "the fastest growing city in Louisiana," due to its job opportunities and installment of Barksdale Air Force Base. Today, the city is striving toward a bright future in the 21st century.

Bossier City Attractions and Special Events

One of the city's top attractions that gives locals and tourists a reason to roll the dice is the Horseshoe Casino. With its exciting nightlife, fine dining, spa and shopping, Bossier City citizens enjoy this local establishment even if they aren't gambling.

Another local venue that draws crowds is the CenturyLink Center. Wrestling, rodeos and hockey games are just some of the events that happen in this 14,000-seat arena. With nearby dining and a variety of entertainment options, this venue is a local favorite on a weekend night.
