We know. You’re ready to move on from the hectic city lifestyle and get some peace, quiet, and cheaper rent. Don’t worry; we’ve been there, too. Maybe you should look to northwestern Baltimore for an answer to your inner-city blues. Cheswolde is a residential neighborhood with garden apartments and quiet streets. In more recent years, the neighborhood has seen a large influx of young families due to the lower housing costs, good public schools, and safe atmosphere. Not only is Cheswolde is a good place to raise a family, it’s also really not that far from Downtown. Of course it’s further away than many other neighborhoods, but a short fifteen minute drive will take you right into the heart of Baltimore. If you’re ready to settle down and get a little more apartment for your buck, then keep reading to learn more!
With their lush landscaping and low prices, Cheswolde Baltimore apartments are great to come home to and leave the noise of the city behind. One bedroom apartments generally cost between $790 and $900 a month, while three bedroom apartments average out around $1,200. If you need a larger place for your family than this is much more affordable and spacious than other options within the city, and if you have roommates who split the rent it’s just downright cheap. Additionally, most of our properties in this area have ratings and reviews from current and previous tenants so you can get an inside look at what the properties are really like!
As we mentioned before, Cheswolde is primarily a residential neighborhood, so if you’re looking for a large selection of really close restaurants and bars then this is definitely not neighborhood for you. However, the Greenspring Shopping Center is just a short drive away and contains a large Shoppers grocery store and some small eateries to choose from. Or if you drive down Kelly Ave to the nearby Mount Washington neighborhood, you will find a Whole Foods and several fast food and sit-down restaurants centered on Falls Road. Running errands is a task that must involve a car, but the good news is that it’s only a short drive to most shopping options.
A majority of our apartments in Cheswolde accept both dog and cats, but there are a few exceptions that don’t. You’ll still have a variety of apartments to choose from if you do have animals, and one of the great things about not living in a highly-urbanized area is that there will be plenty of grass for your pup to roll around in! Over in Mount Washington you’ll find The Village Vet that will take care of your furry friend’s health needs, and Dogma pet store has an array of healthy foods, treats, and it even has groomers!
Cheswolde is definitely a neighborhood that requires having a car to get around. Though there are two bus lines that run through it, a trip that would take you 15 minutes takes at least an hour using public transit. What we’re saying is: it can be done, but it’s really inconvenient.
There are no major interstates that run through Cheswolde, however it’s about a five minute drive east to get to I-83 and a five minute drive west to hook up with I-695. Cheswold is also centrally located between other nearby cities, being just 15 minutes from Towson, 15 minutes from Downtown Baltimore, and 15 minutes to Owings Mills.
While there are several options for public schools in Cheswolde, the main schools zoned for this neighborhood include: Cross Country Elementary School, Mount Washington Elementary School, Fallstaff Middle, and Northwestern High School. While these schools all have above-average ratings, you’ll want to do some research to see which schools are closest to your home. There are also many private options in the area to explore.
