Over the years, Bel Air became a major hub for the canning industry, especially after the railroad made its way into Maryland. Today, Baltimore's growth has made Bel Air a large residential and commercial area, as well as a center for government and commerce. Bel Air Attractions and Special Events

Bel Air is a community with lots of civic pride, so it is no surprise that the city hosts a great deal of special events. Every summer, the city hosts summer concerts and outdoor movies in Shamrock Park. From May to October on the first Friday of every month, the city also hosts an old-fashioned block party in the historic downtown district complete with live music.
