Located roughly 11 miles west of Baltimore, the town of Windsor Mill, Md., is a quaint suburb situated in the northeastern region of the state. Several Revolutionary War battles took place in the region, and one was the largest invasion in United States history. In 1814, British troops marched through the area to capture Baltimore but were defeated by American soldiers. The victory is memorialized at Fort Howard Park.
