Overview of Revere

Located on the beautiful Atlantic coastline, the city of Revere is one of the oldest communities in the United States. The city is steeped in history, so much so that it is named after the American patriot, Paul Revere, whose famous midnight ride warned colonists of the British army entering Massachusetts. Today, Revere is a charming New England community of more than 52,000 residents, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau. Because of its friendly atmosphere, many residents in the area are seeking Revere apartments for rent so that they can be part of one of Massachusetts' finest communities.

Living in Revere, MA

The area that came to be known as Revere was first discovered by Captain John Smith in 1614. The first colonists in the Massachusetts Bay learned how to grow crops and maintain the land from Native Americans and a settlement began to take shape. In its beginnings, Revere was home to many famous faces in the Revolutionary War, including George Washington and, of course, Paul Revere.

After America gained its independence and the Eastern Railroad was built, Revere saw a period of rapid population growth and development. The beaches nearby drew many residents from the hustle and bustle of Boston, and the city's size tripled in population in a span of 15 years at the turn of the 20th century. Although the community had been growing for centuries, the city was not officially incorporated until 1915.

Known as "the Coney Island of New England," the Atlantic coastline has always been at the heart of the community in Revere. What was originally miles of farmland quickly became a travel destination. Over time, Revere has now become home to one of the fastest growing communities in the state as it approaches its centennial year.

According to the city's website, the largest private employer in the area is Trend-Lines, Inc. and the popular Wonderland Greyhound Park. If you plan on commuting to Boston for work, finding an apartment near the Northeast Expressway will give you easy access to and from the city.

The Boston Metropolitan Area is home to some of the most prestigious universities in the country. Many students in the area attend Boston University, an institution that has students and faculty from 141 countries and offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral studies for both traditional and non-traditional scholars. One of the more popular community colleges in the area is Bunker Hill Community College. This small campus in neighboring East Boston is the largest community college in Massachusetts and offers a variety of 2-year degrees and certifications.
