Overview of Belleville

Belleville is a charming city nestled in southeastern Michigan. The town’s motto, “Our waters will bring you in. Our hospitality will bring you back,” is a testament to the friendly nature of the local residents. Home of the Yankee Air Museum and the Lower Huron Metropark, this laid back town approximately 45 minutes southwest of Detroit offers down-to-earth values and big city amenities.

Living in Belleville, MI

Settlers founded Belleville in 1905, and the beautiful natural landscape led them to name the city after the French word for “beautiful town.” Today, the tiny city of Belleville barely surpasses 4,000 residents, maintaining a unique small town atmosphere that can’t be found in many other places in the country.

Residents can take advantage of the area’s natural beauty by visiting Belleville Lake, a body of water that encompasses two square miles. The Lower Huron Metropark is also here, allowing residents and visitors to experience the best outdoor attractions that the Great Lakes state has to offer. The Metropark features paved trails for hiking and biking, as well as camp grounds, canoeing and kayaking, court games, cross-country skiing, fishing, geocaching, ice skating, swimming and the Turtle Cove Family Aquatic Center, which is guaranteed to be fun for the entire family.

Residents living here will also want to check out the National Strawberry Festival, which takes place annually on Father's Day Weekend to celebrate strawberry season. The festival includes a parade with more than 150 floats, two midways, a beer tent, live music, bingo, crafters, food, strawberry treats, children’s attractions, and a Strawberry Queen pageant. More than 30,000 people flock to Belleville to pay homage to strawberries.
