With an exceptionally low cost of living and high quality of life, many new residents in Michigan are calling Charlotte apartments for rent home. Many residents here love that this small town offers a quaint and welcoming feel with all of the amenities of a larger city nearby.
Living in Charlotte, MI
Charlotte was originally named Eaton Center and Carmel before it incorporated during the Civil War and was named Charlotte. This fantastic town began to grow rapidly once the railroad came to Michigan, and the original depot stands at Cochran Avenue to this day. Since then, the city government and council have remained small, allowing their citizens more responsibility and involvement in their policymaking and administrative functions. Today, the city remains the quiet, small town it began as, but is still known in central Michigan for its many parks, theaters and entertainment. According to information from the 2010 U.S. Census Bureau, the city is home to more than 9,000 residents, most of whom are made up of families.
Charlotte Attractions and Special Events
Perhaps echoing back to its history of connections with the railroad, one of the biggest attractions in Charlotte is the Murder Mystery Train that features entertainment and dining with the old world elegance of traditional rail dining style. Many visitors come to the area for this attraction alone because it reminds them of the simpler times of rail travel.
Another special venue in the Charlotte theatre scene is the Charlotte Performing Arts Center, a 825-seat venue that features live musical acts, comedy shows, symphonies and performing arts opportunities for youth.
