Overview of Clio

The city of Clio is located in eastern Michigan, roughly 12 miles north of Flint. The city is situated in Genesee County, and has a population of approximately 2,600. Clio apartments for rent offer attractive options for someone looking to live in a tight-knit community with ties to its past and a plan for its future.

Living in Clio, MI

The town is named after the Greek Goddess Clio, who is the muse of history and poetry. In 1837, the first businessman arrived in Clio to build a saw mill. The mill was all that was in Clio until the mid-1850s when more settlers arrived and built more mills. The town's population increased with the completion of the Flint and Pere Marquette Railway, and by 1928 Clio was incorporated as a city.

Clio is a quaint town, and offers a lot for its residents. According to City-Data, the most common industry in the area is manufacturing, followed by construction and health care and social assistance. Residents often find jobs in retail sales and material recording or as assemblers and fabricators. The city is less than 20 miles from three hospitals and roughly 13 miles from an Amtrak station, making it convenient to both healthcare and travel experiences. It also is within 30 miles of several higher education institutions, including University of Michigan-Flint, Mott Community College and Saginaw Valley State University.

Bealeton Attractions and Special Events

Those living in Clio rentals and visitors alike find much to do in the area. During the summer, they enjoy a concert series at the Clio Area Amphitheater. Lovers of the outdoors and physical activity can join in with the Health Community Initiative. This five-year plan seeks to improve the health and condition of residents in the area with cooperation from the government, community organizations and area residents.

Residents can also take the opportunity to travel to several important Michigan cities. Flint offers a drive-in theater, the Flint Institute of the Arts, Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad. When residents want to take a longer trip, Detroit is roughly 82 miles southeast of Clio and offers museums, pro sports teams and a casino.
