I had a great time living at the Detroit City Apartments. Downtown Detroit is a very up and coming are to live Read More. The amenities in the complex were amazing and they were adding more when I moved out. My friend lives there now and the building looks amazing.

Overall, this place is a good place to live. Only issue I have is they raised the rent 17% two years in a row Read More - which reflected what they raised all units to (meaning they didn't offer a discount to current residents at renewal, which I find odd). Pros - staff, location, residents, maintenance. Cons - price.

Lease increases VERY HIGH after initial move-in. Be prepared for annual increases of $150-$250 per renewal. Read More4 yr tenant-current lease payment is $540.00 more per month than move in rate (for same floorplan). Did move to upgraded finishes 2nd yr.
5th yr renewal quote: +160/mo MINIMUM. Rates appear to be attempting to capitalize on 'proposed' dwntwn developments. Reality-will be several yrs b4 developments materialize-thus, current CONSUMER lease 'value' has dropped considerably.

The main office was minimally responsive to maintenance problems. They did a lot of external updates while I w Read Moreas living there like colorful chairs outside the building and new umbrellas on the patio. Even though these changed may have raised overall property values, they did not add to the quality of life of the residents. Still they raised rental rates at LEAST $100. I thought this was egregious,especially since the window screens and dishwasher in my apt were broken for months & never repaired

Management had poor leadership. We were left without proper air on the 25th floor for weeks in 90? weather. P Read Moreool deck was out of commission for last 3 months during warm season we lived there for the upgrades.
