Overview of Grand Blanc
Located in Genesee County, Grand Blanc is about 60 miles north of the Detroit metro area, 10 miles south of Flint and about 35 minutes north of Auburn Hills. Spanning approximately 4 square miles, the small town life in Grand Blanc is warm and welcoming. As it is ideally situated among several of Michigan’s largest metro areas, there are many options for recreation, employment and entertainment.

Grand Blanc was originally settled by the Chippewa Native Americans. French settlers came to the area just before 1800 and named the town, which in their language translates to “Great White.” By 1823, pioneer families began to set up trading posts and claimed land along the vast farmland. At the time, farmland cost $1.25 per acre. When the railroad was built in 1862, the community began to prosper even more, and by 1904, Grand Blanc was the first village in the state of Michigan to consolidate its schools. The village became a town in 1930.
Today in Grand Blanc, the town remembers its history in the Stagecoach Stop located on Saginaw Street next to Coach Stop Plaza. The building was constructed in 1840.

The Captain’s Club at Woodfield, Jewel of Grand Blanc and Warwick Hills are all within or right outside of the city limits.
