Living in Marshall, MI

Marshall was established in 1830 and was named after Chief Justice John Marshall of Virginia. Early settlers expected the city to become Michigan's state capitol. It never did, but still attracted many affluent residents and businessmen. The town became the switching center for the Michigan Central Railroad and the area boomed during the Civil War.

Most of Marshall's architecture is from the 1860s but today more condominiums and industrial centers are being built in the town. The city's employers attract more than 3,800 commuters everyday and roughly 1,400 residents also work in the city. Marshall's most popular industry is manufacturing, followed by retail trade and educational services.  Marshall is a quaint town but offers its residents many amenities, such as popular local restaurants, a hospital and close proximity to an Amtrak station and mall.
