In 1825, two farmers from Connecticut named Keziah and William Starkweather settled the area that would become Plymouth. The Starkweathers’ son George would later see the importance of bringing a railroad to the community to connect it with other towns, which prompted the creation of the Plymouth Railroad Station in 1871. As the only place in Michigan where railroad tracks went in all four directions, Plymouth flourished with trade and quickly grew in size.
