Living in Brooklyn Park, MN
Brooklyn Park was once a Missouri Territory in the early 19th century under the protection of the Dakota Indians. By 1852, the land that would one day be Brooklyn Territory was claimed under a law that organized Hennepin County. Michigan settlers took to the land in late 1853 and early 1854 and named the area Brooklyn Township after their homeland of Brooklyn, Michigan. The land was incorporated as a village in February 1954 with a population of less than 4,000, and became a charter city in September 1969.
Today, Brooklyn Park rentals offer a laid back lifestyle. With plenty of national and local shopping and dining options, residents easily settle down in the community.

Brooklyn Park Attractions and Special Events
In Brooklyn Park, people take pride in their starchy vegetables. Since 1964, residents and visitors gathered each year to pay homage to the potato at the Tater Daze. Due to the flat, sandy soil of the area, potatoes flourished and helped Brooklyn Park grow into the close-knit community it is today. Although prizes have changed just a bit, the first festival gave away gasoline, free groceries, cash, and 420-pound bags of potatoes grown locally.
Residents can enjoy a blast from the past at the Brooklyn Park Historical Farm, a 10-acre farm resorted to resemble the 1890-1910 period. Made possible by the abundant potato farms of the twentieth century, this farm is equipped with a restored Victorian home, barn and farm animals.
