Overview of Minneapolis

After living among the hustle and bustle that comes with urban areas, it’s sometimes nice to admit that you want to take a break and get back to a slower pace of life. The Longfellow Minneapolis community contains neighborhoods that will allow you to do just that. In particular, Hiawatha Minneapolis features affordable, spacious apartments and homes that are popular among families and couples.

Not only does Hiawatha feature a wide variety of rentals, the price generally buys you a lot more space than living in the city does. Many of our Hiawatha apartments in Minneapolis are safe, affordable, and located within a couple blocks of the Metro Blue Line. Add in the excellent schools and outdoor spaces, and Hiawatha MN offers an array of amenities that aren't available in the concrete jungle of Downtown

Arts & Culture in Hiawatha

Minnehaha Park is the most popular attraction in Hiawatha Minneapolis, and it features many sights and seasonal events that bring in people from all over the country. Throughout the summer, the Music in the Parks concert series is hosted here every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evening. Residents also enjoy attending the festivals and free plays that are held at Minnehaha Park during the warm months. When it comes to cultural activities, there are not many options within Hiawatha, but there are a few gems in the greater Longfellow area. If you take a short journey north, you will find The Riverview Theater which is one of the best rated theaters in Minneapolis. This retro theater sells $3 movie tickets, buttery popcorn, and a vintage movie-going experience that is truly a one-of-a-kind experience.

For a day of museums or galleries you’ll have to travel into the city, but the easy light rail access makes it a fun and convenient adventure.

Food & Nightlife in Hiawatha

Hiawatha is home to about 40 different restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. This may not seem like many in comparison to areas like Lowry Hill East and North Loop, but perhaps there is something to be said for quality over quantity. Seasonal restaurants like the Sea Salt Eatery in Minnehaha Park offer fresh seafood in April through October, and foodies from all over the city bike, train, or drive to the park to taste the famous fish.

North Longfellow also offers some small breweries, specialty coffee shops, and distinctive restaurants. Just a short drive to Lake Street will triple the amount of options you have for food and bars. Pet-Friendly Hiawatha Minneapolis Apartments:

The greatest attraction in this area for pets would have to be the large, off-leash dog park within Minnehaha Park. In fact, dogs are allowed in most areas of the park as long as you clean up after them.

And you don’t have to go far to keep your furry friends happy and healthy. Just North of Hiawatha in Nokomis, you will find a giant pet supply store and pet clinic. Several of our Hiawatha apartments in Minneapolis often allow cats, but some require a little extra convincing to have a dog live with you. Be prepared to speak with the properties to learn just what their rules are on pets and deposits.

Commuting From Hiawatha Minneapolis

Most of our available Hiawatha apartments reside within one or two blocks of the Metro Blue Line. This speedy light rail train gives residents easy access to Downtown, the airport, or that really large mall that everyone from out of town is always talking about. If you have a job in the city, commuting should be quick and efficient even without a car. For people that do commute by car, Hiawatha Avenue is one of the main highways that bring people in and out of the city. It also happens to be the western border of the neighborhood and the apartments have very easy access to the highway.

Hiawatha is not walkable for errands, and most people in the Longfellow Minneapolis neighborhoods are dependent on cars get around. There are some bus routes that go through this area, but the most used form of transport is the Metro.

Education Options

You know you’re in a good place for education when the neighborhood was actually named for its elementary school. Hiawatha Community School gets rave reviews from the community and has a catered program for ESL students. Sanford Middle School and South High School are the other attendance area schools, both of which are highly rated and well-liked by the residents of Hiawatha.
