Overview of St Louis

St. Louis has always been a great place for businesses. From it's early days as a historical trading post, the city has kept its capitalist beginnings alive through the centuries up to today, where it's one of the premier financial centers of the Midwest. The downtown area has the regional and international headquarters of some of the nation's largest and fastest-growing businesses. In addition to the large companies that anchor the downtown business district, there are so many small and independent businesses that nearly 80 percent of the companies in downtown St. Louis have fewer than 25 employees. Essentially if you are trying to get a job or start a business, St. Louis apartments are an affordable and well-located option to kick-start your career.

Explore the Gateway Mall Area

Aside from the variety of employment and entrepreneurial opportunities in St. Louis for renters of one bedroom downtown apartments, there are plenty of green spaces and historical attractions just waiting to be visited. Anyone looking to keep active or wanting a bit more nature in daily life will want to explore the Gateway Mall. The mall is a chain of interconnected parks running east from Memorial Drive at Gateway Arch to Union Station. Features include a pool at Kiener Plaza, a fountain and a statue known as The Runner, and Citygarden, a sculpture park featuring works by Aristide Maillol, Laura Ford, Mark di Suvero and many other well-known contemporary artists. Other parks like Memorial Plaza, Washington Square Park, Kaufman Park and Eternal Flame Park are also along the route.

From the Gateway Mall, it's a quick walk to a number of historical attractions. The Soldiers' Memorial Military Museum gives renters the chance to learn more about wars, soldiers and Missouri. Some of the area's other landmarks include the Gateway Arch, a 630-foot stainless steel monument to Westward Expansion and the world's tallest arch. The Old Courthouse, the site of some of the earliest cases involving slave emancipation and women's right to vote, is just down the street from the arch and a quick trip for any renter. Also nearby is the Basilica of St. Louis, King of France, known as The Old Cathedral. This architectural marvel was built in 1834 and includes a museum of church artifacts and documents.

There are dozens of other historical sites to explore, not to mention shopping, dining and nightlife. Young professionals and recent college graduates will love living in downtown St. Louis apartment rentals.
