is adjacent to Henderson, and includes the unincorporated town of Whitney, which was named one of the best places to retire by Money magazine in 2007. The magazine said of Whitney, “While just five miles from The Strip, (Whitney) is a little bit of city and little bit of desert, mixed with retirement luxury.” Although named a great place for retirees, the community is popular with 30- and 40-somethings, about half of them married and many with families.

Other parks in East Las Vegas offer typical family-centered activities and venues. These include Ferron Park, Maslow County Park, East Las Vegas Park, Desert Inn Park and New Silver Bowl Park.

Other local attractions include the Desert Wetlands Park, a 2,900 acre preserve, and Sam Boyd Stadium, home of UNLV sports teams and site of other events like concerts.
