As the population of the Vegas metro area burgeoned throughout the 90s and early 2000s, housing developers created master-planned communities in the Northwest to meet growing demand. Set in the foothills of the mountain ranges surrounding the city, the Northwest neighborhood is just a 30-minute drive from The Strip. Yet, everything you need is right in your backyard.
Northwest Las Vegas includes the popular master-planned Centennial Hills neighborhood. Other popular neighborhoods in this city include: North Las Vegas, Summerlin and Spring Valley.
Northwest Lifestyle and Entertainment
Northwest Las Vegas is very popular with 30-somethings, the majority of them married, and many with children. Many of the communities with the Northwest neighborhood have been master-planned. So, in addition to a wide variety of residential housing, the community also includes a nice mix of retailers, eateries, coffee shops, sports bars, pubs and movie theaters among other things.
The Northwest neighborhood features a number of outdoor recreational venues and parks perfect for families or anyone who enjoys the great outdoors. The W. Wayne Bunker Family Park’s 21 acres include playgrounds, a skate park, picnic areas, walking path, volleyball and horseshoe courts. Children’s Memorial Park has a fitness course, a dog park, walking paths, a roller hockey rink, baseball fields, basketball and tennis courts and picnic areas. For a true nature experience, there’s Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs. This 680-acre park features lush vegetation, hiking trails, fishing ponds and the historic Tule Springs Ranch.
The Northwest Rental Market
The Northwest rental market has abundant choices for apartments, condos, townhomes and single-family homes. This newer and still-growing part of the city has a wide selection of rentals, many with the latest modern amenities. Apartment complexes are mostly low- and mid-rise buildings, some of which are brand new. They feature resort-style pools and often have nicely equipped work-out and exercise facilities.
Monthly rent on a one-bedroom Northwest apartment averages between $650 and $750. Two bedroom units start at about $865 and go up to $1,100 monthly. The rent in more luxurious buildings is somewhat higher.
U.S. Highway 95 and I-215 provide residents with easy access to The Strip, which is 30 minutes away.
