Since 2000, the population living in Southwestern Las Vegas communities has skyrocketed from a mere 14,000 to more than 100,000 people. This is in part to some master-planned developments.

Most of Southwest Las Vegas is actually outside the city’s boundaries in Clark County. Some portions have become unincorporated towns with an advisory board, while other portions are simply governed by the Clark County Commission.

Southwest Las Vegas is nestled comfortably between the hustle and bustle of The Strip and the natural beauty of the surrounding mountains and canyons. It is adjacent to other popular neighborhoods in Las Vegas including Enterprise, Summerlin and The Lakes.

Southwest Lifestyle and Entertainment

If you enjoy a quiet suburban lifestyle, Southwest Las Vegas is for you. You can enjoy your little slice of heaven away from the neon and bright lights of The Strip. Yet, if you want to liven up your life, the city’s famous attractions are just a short car ride away.

The communities in this section of the city are extremely popular with individuals and families in their 20s, 30s and 40s. Most are drawn to the newer residential choices, beautifully landscaped drives and open spaces. They also enjoy the views of Red Rock Canyon and the nearby mountain ranges.

With the residential growth, a full range of businesses, shops, restaurants, nightlife venues and more have moved into the region to serve the growing population. Everything you need is likely within easy reach of home, while the larger metro area offers all types of recreational opportunities. You can ski Mt. Charleston, hike Red Rock Canyon, play sports at a nearby park, sing karaoke at a local pub or try your hand a game of chance in a downtown casino. There’s always something to do in this city that never sleeps.

The Southwest Rental Market

The Southwest rental market is very widespread and offers rental choices for most budgets. In general, the further you go from the city center, the less expensive the rent becomes. The area is dotted with newer low-rise apartment complexes, many with the most modern amenities. You can find one-bedroom apartments for just under $500 monthly, although $650 to $700 is more typical. You can expect to pay $800 to $1,100 monthly for a two bedroom apartment.

The growing Southwest neighborhood is popular with young professionals, singles and married couples of all ages, many with children. Depending on where you live you can expect a commute of about 20 minutes.

Southwest Las Vegas is mostly unincorporated county territory. Some areas have become incorporated towns with advisory boards that work with the Clark County Commission. Visit Clark County government for more information. In the northern portion of this neighborhood, some communities may fall within Las Vegas city limits. Students residing in Southwest Las Vegas attend the Clark County School District. The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District operates the following branches in Southwest Las Vegas: Spring Valley, West Charleston, Sahara West and Windmill.
