Clinton, NJ
Overview of Clinton
Head west on Interstate 78 for about an hour outside of Newark and you will run into the quiet community of Clinton, one of New Jersey's finest cities. Although the town enjoys all of the quaint traits that make a small city such a great place to live, Clinton apartments for rent also have convenient access to large interstates, making it the perfect spot for commuters. With a high median income and low crime rate compared with the rest of the state, it is no surprise that Clinton has seen a three percent increase in population from 2000 to 2010, according to City-Data. From its old-fashioned downtown district to its state-of-the-art parks and museums, this New Jersey gem is showing no signs of slowing down.
Living in Clinton, NJ
The areas around Clinton were mostly home to wealthy milling families until after the American Revolution, when the city was torn between British sympathizers and American patriots. However, the city regained focus after the war and rebuilt. After years of business and residential growth and the long years of the Civil War, the city eventually incorporated in 1865, finally settling on the name of Clinton. Continuing in its tradition as a milling town, the city saw expansive growth and wealth well into the 20th century, as seen from the beautiful architecture of the city's main street to this day. Although the mills now serve as a symbol of the city's industrial past, the city is still alive with civic pride and business growth. According to 2010 information from City-Data, the population in Clinton is made up of more than 2,700 residents.
Clinton Attractions and Special Events
One of the city's most beautiful places for outdoor recreation is close to one of the city's old mills at Hunts Mills Pond. The easy-to-follow trail system here is home to some of New Jersey's finest wildlife, including a large diversity of native birds. If you are more of a sportsman, Hunts Mills is a fisherman's paradise with its large pond.
