Overview of East Orange
East Orange calls itself the "City on the Move." Located at the crossroads of New Jersey, it's certainly well positioned for movers and shakers. Newark is immediately to the southeast and Manhattan isn't far off, either. That means an East Orange apartment will put you within reach of big city amenities, without costing exorbitant city prices.
Living in East Orange
For much of East Orange's history, it was actually part of Newark. It wasn't until 1806 that it split from that city as part of the larger area simply known as Orange. Orange, New Jersey incorporated as a town in 1860 and rapidly began to divide into smaller units. East Orange got its turn in 1863. By 1909, it had incorporated as a city and begun its modern era. Today the city is struggling with issues of safety.
