The town of Newton is located in northern New Jersey in the heart of Sussex County, roughly 22 miles northwest of Parsippany and 37 miles northwest of Newark. Census data revealed that nearly 4,000 local residents make up the labor force of the town, and the most common industry from 2005 to 2009 was retail trade, making up 15 percent of local industry.
