Overview of Verona

The township of Verona is in Essex County in northeast New Jersey, approximately four miles southwest of Clifton and roughly seven miles northwest of Newark. The town is considered to be part of the Newark metropolitan area. Verona apartments for rent can easily be found across the 2.98 square miles of land and are an excellent way to join the population of more than 13,500 people.

Residents of Verona particularly enjoy being situated between two mountains with easy accessibility via numerous roadways and within a 30 minute drive to the center of bustling New York City.

Living in Verona, NJ

Verona and the neighboring towns previously were known as the Horseneck Tract, initially inhabited by the Lenni Lenape Native Americans. Following the Revolutionary War, the area was renamed Caldwell Township, and during the mid-19th century the name was changed to Vernon Valley. The name was finally changed to Verona due to the fact that there was already another Vernon Valley in Sussex County. The township of Verona was incorporated officially in 1907.

One of the reasons that Verona is a great place to live is that it is primarily a residential suburban community, with a great deal of natural landscapes with close proximity to major urban centers.

Verona Attractions and Special Events

People living in Verona apartments have a number of attractions at their doorstep, including a renowned recreational complex.
